Amazing Results with ShockWave
At NOVA Chiropractic & Acupuncture we are always looking for ways to improve the results our patients have with care. Our new Shockwave technology in Burke VA is designed to work at the cellular level. Its gentle impact is aimed at turning on the body's natural healing process. Shockwaves are sound waves that are delivered by a machine through a handheld device. The treatments are typically 3 to 5 minutes and are usually done 2 to 3 times per week over 4 to 6 weeks. Every patient and condition is different so treatment time and duration will vary.

What is SHOCKWAVE THERAPY ?
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy, also known as extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), is a non-invasive medical treatment that uses high-intensity sound waves to stimulate healing in damaged tissue. It is commonly used to treat musculoskeletal conditions, such as chronic tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, low back and neck pain, sprains and strains, osteoarthritis and knee pain.
The therapy works by delivering acoustic shockwaves to the affected area, which creates micro-trauma in the tissue and stimulates the body's natural healing processes. This leads to increased blood flow and cell metabolism, which can help to reduce pain and inflammation, improve tissue healing, and promote tissue regeneration.
What Conditions Can ESWT Treat?
Musculoskeletal conditions: Shockwave therapy can be used to treat conditions such as plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, and shoulder tendinitis.
Chronic pain: Shockwave therapy can be used to relieve chronic pain in conditions such as back pain and neck pain.
Soft tissue injuries: Shockwave therapy can be used to help recover from soft tissue injuries such as sprains, strains, and tendonitis.
